Yavuz Can ASLAN
Dr Yavuz Can Aslan, is a lawyer specialising in shipping and commercial litigation and a member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
He advises on and negotiates complex cross-border commercial disputes, with particular experience in vessel arrest, marine insurance, international shipping sales and charter party agreements. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Vice Dean at Kadir Has University in Istanbul, Turkey, where he lectures on Maritime and Insurance Law.
Dr Aslan completed his LLB at Galatasaray University with First Class honours and obtained a Master of Arts in Private Law from Marmara University, where he was class valedictorian. He later completed a joint LLM in Maritime Law at Queen Mary University of London and University College London, followed by an MA in Finance from Boğaziçi University. He obtained his PhD degree from Istanbul University.
Dr Aslan has published extensively in maritime and commercial law. His works include Arrest of Ships (2025), and Contract in Favour of Third Parties, published (2020).
This combination of academic depth and practical experience enables Dr Aslan to provide his clients comprehensive and legal solutions. In addition to his legal expertise Dr Aslan has a pivotal role within the firm in advising on matters concerning these industries.
Dr Aslan is a member of the Istanbul Bar and holds recognised Supporting Member title with the London Maritime Arbitrators Association.
